Biography

He was the President of the Naval Reserve Consulting Group in 1956. He was the Chairman of the Conference of Defence Associations in 1962. He was awarded the Admiral's Medal for 1985. He was a Governor of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires (Eastern Canada) 1951-1990. He was the President National Council Navy League of Canada 1976-1978. (He was qualified for signals, gunnery and with a Watchkeeping Certificate)

He was appointed as a Midshipman RCNVR (With seniority dated 19/08/1936). He joined the Toronto Division RCNVR 1936. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCNVR (With seniority dated 19/06/1937). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCNVR (With seniority dated 19/05/1938). (Mobilized for Second World War service). He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 19/06/1939). He served in HMCS Assiniboine (I) 1939. He served in HMCS Annapolis (I) 1940. He served on the Short Gunnery Course 1941. He served in H.M.S. Revenge 1941. He served in HMCS Stadacona for RCN Barracks Halifax as Officer-in-Charge Gunnery School 1942. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/07/1943). He served in HMCS Prince Robert 1943. He served in HMCS Niobe for RN Staff College Course 1944. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/07/1944). He served in NHQ as Staff Officer (Gunnery) in Directorate of Warfare and Training 1944. He was appointed as a A/Commander (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/07/1945).
