He was appointed as a Naval Cadet RCN 1913. He served in the Royal Naval College of Canada (Third term) 1913. He was appointed as a Midshipman RCN (With seniority dated 02/08/1915). He served in H.M.S. Erin for Training 1916. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 02/08/1917). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 02/08/1918). He served in HMS Dido for HMS Torrid. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1918). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/02/1919). He served in H.M.S. Royal Arthur 1920. He served in HMCS Aurora 1920. He served in HMCS Stadacona 1922. He served in H.M.S. Vernon for RN Long Torpedo Course 1920-1923. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/11/1926). In 1926 he served in HMS Cyclops. He served in HMCS Naden 1928. Anecdotes
He was appointed to the new position of Commodore Superintendent Halifax in October 1943 as one of the measures designed to improve the organisation of ship refits on the East Coast.
