He was appointed as a Coxswain (Fishermen's Reserve Section) RCNR (With seniority dated 29/07/1938). He served in HMCS Givenchy (II) for HMCS West Coast (In command) 1941. He was appointed as a Skipper Coxswain (Fishermen's Reserve Section) RCNR (With seniority dated 01/01/1942). (He was demobilized.)
