Biography
He was an Officer Cadet in the Cunard Line Brocklebank Training Ship 1927-1930. He served in the British Merchant Service 1930-1932. He served with the Jardine Matheson Line 1933 where he was Chief Officer. (He was qualified as Master Mariner 1936.) He came to Canada to join the RCNVR from Hong Kong for Second World War service.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 21/11/1940). He served in HMCS Givenchy. He served in HMCS Brandon 1940. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 1941). He served in HMCS Brandon (In command) 1941-1942. He served in HMCS Stadacona as Sea Training Commander (Pictou and St. Margaret's Bay) 1943. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 01/07/1943). He served in HMCS Acadia (In command) 1943. He served in H.M.S. Belfast on Staff of Squadron Navigating Officer 1944. He served in HMCS Uganda as Navigating Officer 1944. (Transferred to RCN). He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN. He served in HMCS Stadacona for Navigation School as Officer-in-Charge 1946. He served in HMCS Huron (In command) 1947. He served in HMCS Micmac (In command) 1947. He was appointed as a Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1947). He served in HMCS Naden for RCN Barracks Esquimalt as Reserve Training Commander 1948. He served in HMCS Stadacona as Executive Officer 1950. He served in HMCS Crescent (In command) 1951. He was appointed as a Captain RCN (With seniority dated 01/01/1953). He served in HMCS Stadacona as Chief of Staff to Flag Officer Atlantic Coast and Commander Canadian Atlantic 1953. He served in the Imperial Defence College (London UK) for Course 1956. He served in HMCS Ontario (In command) 1957. He was appointed as a Commodore (WHA) RCN 1958. He served in HMCS Bytown on Attachment to the Joint Staff as Co-ordinator 1958. Reverted to Captain RCN (seniority 01/01/1953). He served in NHQ for HMCS Patriot as Chief of Staff (Naval Reserve Divisions) 1961. (He was retired 24/03/1963.)
