Biography
He served in tugboats on the west coast as a Mate before the Second World War. He was elected as an Alderman of Central Saanich BC for 14 years after retirement. He was qualified to command a frigate or destroyer. He carried the King's Colour in the Royal Guard for Princess Elizabeth during the Royal Visit of 1951. He was the Commander of Royal Guard for Princess Margaret during Royal Visit of 1958. He was the Commander of the Parade for Queen Elizabeth II in Victoria in 1959. He was appointed as Trustee of the Maritime Museum of British Columbia 1959. (He was qualified as a Master Mariner (Foreign Going). He operated a market garden in Central Saanich from 1972 to 1992.

He served as a Petty Officer in the Rainbow Sea Cadet Corps (Victoria BC). He was appointed as a Able Seaman RCNR 1940. He served in the RCN Barracks Esquimalt 1940. He served in HMCS Wolfe 1940. He served in HMCS Sans Peur 1940. He was appointed as a Leading Torpedoman RCNR 1941, (Transferred to RCN 1941). He was appointed as a Petty Officer RCN 1942. He served in HMCS Prince Robert 1942. He was appointed as a Petty Officer RCN 1943. He was appointed as a HMCS Skeena. He was appointed as a Chief Petty Officer Torpedoman RCN 1944. He served in HMCS H.M.S. Raleigh for Hood Course of Upper Yardmen 1945, (CFR. He served in the Royal Navy Upper Yardmen's College H.M.S. Raleigh (Hood Course)) 1945. (He was the winner of the Telescope and other prizes at the RN Upper Yardman's College). He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1945). He served in RN for Sub-Lieutenants Courses 1945. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 01/09/1945). He served in HMCS Naden for RCN Barracks for New Entry Training 1946. He served in HMCS Uganda for Watchkeeping Certificate 1946. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (TAS) RCN (With seniority dated 16/03/1946). He served in HMCS Crescent as Navigating Officer 1947. He served in HMCS Cataraqui as Staff Officer 1948. He served in H.M.S. Vernon for Long Torpedo Anti-submarine Course 1949. (He was qualified as a TAS Officer at a Long Course in the UK). He served in HMCS Stadacona for Torpedo School as Sea Training Officer 1951. He served in HMCS Iroquois as Principal Armament Control Officer and Squadron TAS Officer (Korean War Service) 1952. He served in HMCS Stadacona for Torpedo School as Senior Instructor 1953. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (TAS) RCN (With seniority dated 16/03/1954). He served in HMCS Chippawa as Staff Officer 1954. He served in HMCS Stettler (In command) 1955. He served in HMCS Naden as Staff Officer (TAS) to Flag Officer Pacific Coast and Liaison Officer to Pacific Naval Laboratory and Officer-In-Charge of Torpedo School 1957. He was appointed as a Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/07/1959). He served in NHQ as Staff Officer (TAS Fighting Equipment Requirements) 1959. He served in HMCS Niagara for Canadian Joint Defence Staff Washington as Staff Officer (TAS Fighting Equipment Requirements) 1961. He served in HMCS Chaudiere (II) (In command) 1964. He served in HMCS Stadacona On Staff of Flag Officer Atlantic Coast as Senior Staff Officer (Sea Systems Readiness) 1966. He served in CFB Esquimalt as Base Administration Officer 1968-72. (He was retired 01/10/1972.)
