He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 27/07/1922). He served in HMCS Stadacona 1923. He served in HMCS Champlain as First Lieutenant 1928. He served in H.M.S. Tiger 1930. He served in HMCS Stadacona 1930. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 25/07/1934). He served in NHQ as Assistant Director of Naval Reserves 1934.
