Military Service
He was appointed as a Cadet RNR. In 1937-39 he attended HMS Conway (Merchant navy training establishment). He was appointed as a Cadet in the British Merchant Service 1939-41, (Transferred to RCNR) 1941. He was appointed as an A/Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR 1941. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 30/01/1942). He served in HMCS Moose Jaw 1942. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 30/07/1942). He served in HMCS Cornwallis for Long Gunnery Course 1943. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (g) (Temp.) RCNR 1943. He served in HMCS Cornwallis for Duty at HMC Gunnery School. (Transferred to RCN 1944). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 30/07/1942). He served in HMCS Quinte (In command) 1944. He served in HMCS Haida 1944.
