Biography
He was living in Saint John NB at the time of his recruitment. He was admitted to the New Brunswick Law Society in June 1976. He practised law in Saint John for 28 years with Cox and Palmer and its predecessor firms. He was a member of the Saint John Law Society, the New Brunswick Law Society and the Canadian Bar Association. He was a member of the American Trial Lawyer’s Association and the American Transport Lawyers’ Association. He practised litigation with a specialty in administrative law, transportation law and environmental law. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2003.

He was appointed as an Officer Cadet (With seniority dated 1969). He served in HMCS Brunswicker 1969. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (With seniority dated 1971). He served in HMCS Fraser for training 1972. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (N) (With seniority dated 1973). He served in HMCS Qu’Appelle for training 1973. Bridge watchkeeping and navigation duties in HMC Ships Porte St Jean, Porte St Louis, Porte Quebec, Porte Dauphine, Porte De La Reine, Fort Steele, Chignecto, Cowichan, Nipigon and Preserver. He served in HMCS Brunswicker as Operations Officer 1979. He was appointed as AdC to Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick 1979. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (With seniority dated 1980). He served in HMCS Brunswicker as Executive Officer 1982. He was appointed as a Commander (With seniority dated 1987). He served in HMCS Brunswicker as Commanding Officer 1987. He was appointed as an Honorary AdC to the Governor-General of Canada 1987. He was appointed as Commander Saint John Coastal Defence Sub-District 1989. He was appointed as a Captain (N) (With seniority dated 1992). He was appointed as Commander Harbour Defence Detachment One – East Coast Mobile Harbour Defence Team 1994. He was appointed as Regional Coordinator Naval Reserve Eastern Region 1997. He was appointed as a Member of Canadian Forces Liaison Council 1999. He was appointed as a Commodore (With seniority dated 15/07/2000). He served in NAVRESHQ as Commander Naval Reserves 2000. (Transferred to the Supplementary Reserve 2004.)
