Biography

In civillian life she was the Vice-President of Orthlieb Associates Ltd., Calgary AB (international investment and managment consulting company.) Founder of the Naval Museum of Alberta. President Maritime Defence Association of Canada in1987, Woman of Distinction Award Y.W.C.A. Calgary (Business, Labour & Professions) 1988, Sponsor of HMCS Regina 1991. Women's Hall of Fame, New Brunswick Branch of United Nations Association of Canada 1993.

 

Military Service

She was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (NR) 1959. She served in HMCS Nonsuch 1960. She served in HMCS Tecumseh 1974. She was appointed as a Lieutenant (NR) (With seniority dated 29/04/1974). She served in HMCS Tecumseh Training Officer 1977. She was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander (NR) (With seniority dated 01/01/1977). She served in HMCS Tecumseh. She served in Senior Officer's Study Course at Royal Roads Military College 1977. She served on NCS Standard Course at ASW School Norfolk VA (USA) 1977. She served on NCS Exercise Bell Buoy NCSO Seattle as Liaison Officer MARPAC 1979. She was appointed as an AdC (Alberta) to Lt Governor 1980. She was appointed as a Commander (NR) (With seniority dated 01/01/1980), She served in HMCS Tecumseh. She served in NCS Advanced Course at Norfolk VA (USA). She served in NCS Exercise Sea Supply and Expanded Sea COMCANLANT Halifax 1982. She served on the NCS Exercise Wintex-Cimex at Norfolk VA (USA) 1983. She served in HMCS Tecumseh as Commanding Officer 1983-1987. She served on the Naval Reseve Officer's Course at NATO Defence College Course (Rome) 1984. She was appointed as an Hon AdC to Governor General. She was appointed as a Captain (NR) (With seniority dated 01/01/1985). She served on the National Defence College of Canada (Course 41) 1987. She was appointed as a Commodore (With seniority dated 17/08/1989). She served as Senior Naval Reserve Advisor to Commander Maritime Commander 1989. (Transferred to the Supplementary Holding Reserve 1992.)

Anecdotes
HMCS Tecumseh was awarded the Silver Destroyer Award as Best Naval Reserve Division in Canada while she was commanding officer in 1985.
