Biography
He served as Apprentice and Mate with Canadian Pacific Steamships 1930-34, (He served in various civilian jobs 1935-40).

He was appointed as a Mate (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 17/09/1940). He served in HMCS Chambly as Navigating Officer 1941. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNR (With seniority dated 12/10/1941). He served in HMCS Chambly as First Lieutenant 1941. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant-Commander (Temp.) RCNR. He served in HMCS Chambly (In command) 1942.
