He won the Royal Navy Atlantic Fleet Middleweight Boxing Championship in 1922 and 1924. He won the Royal Navy - Royal Marines Light Heavyweight Boxing Championship in 1927. He placed second in the Royal Navy Home Fleet Cross-Country Race in 1927.
