Biography
After his naval service he worked with the Canada Department of Transport (as Director of Security and Intelligence) in Ottawa ON after retirement in 1987. He retired again in 1995.
 
Military Service
He was appointed as a Midshipman RN 1948. He was appointed as a A/Sub-Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 01/01/1951). He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 01/01/1952). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RN (With seniority dated 01/05/1954). He served in HMCS Stadacona as Executive Officer Sixth Submarine Division 1954. (Transferred to RCN through Short Service Appointment) 1957. He was appointed as a Lieutenant (SSA) RCN. (Short Service Appointment commenced 17/06/1957 with seniority dated 01/07/1953). He served in HMCS Venture 1957. He served in the Commanding Officer's Course US Navy Submarine School New London CT 1960, (Selected for permanent commission). He served in HMCS Grilse (II) as Executive Officer. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 01/05/1962). He served on Staff of Maritime Commander Pacific as Staff Officer (Plans) 1962. He served in HMCS Grilse (II) (In command) 1964. He served in HMCS Ojibwa (In command) 1966. He was appointed as a Commander (MARS) (With seniority dated 01/07/1967). He served in NDHQ as Director Maritime Equipment Requirements 1967. He served in HMCS Qu'Appelle (II) (In command) 1970. He served on the Staff of MARCOM (Pacific) HQ 1972. He was appointed as a Captain (MARS) (With seniority dated 01/07/1973). He was appointed as a Commander Second Canadian Destroyer Squadron 1973. He served in NDHQ 1975. He served in the National Defence College of Canada (Course 31) 1977. He was appointed as a Commodore (With seniority dated 20/07/1978). He served in NDHQ as Director General Intelligence and Security 1978. He was appointed as a Rear-Admiral (With seniority dated 23/12/1981). He served in NDHQ as Chief of Intelligence and Security 1981. He served in SHAPE as Assistant Chief of Staff (Intelligence and Counter-Intelligence) 1982. He served in NDHQ on Secondment to Transport Canada 1986-87. (He was retired in 1987.)
