Anecdotes
In 1955 this vesselworked at the Federal Government Graving Dock in Esquimalt BC. Christopher James Cole (Email to Nauticapedia 28/02/2019) states that "this vessel was used for moving the floating gates at the Esquimalt dry dock, seems to be owned by a numbered company now as a new vessel was built for that job recently. From the book Ships Of Steel by T.A. Mclaren & Vickie Jensen,"Built for use at the government at the government graving dock in Esquimalt, the Esquimalt II was ordered by the Department of Public Works to replace a wooden tug that had grown old and decrepit. The vessel was essentially a repeat of the original wooden tug, but was made of steel, as this is what the customer wanted. They were not interested in any thing else. Certain parts of the old vessel were removed and put on the new one."
