Anecdotes
From Scott Kristmanson on the British Columbia Nautical History Facebook page "Half a load of reduction herring going back to Rupert, blowing hard on December 10th, 1966, my uncle, Ken Kristmanson was on board. He told me that this vesseltook a roll, and they could hear snapping in the hold, then laid over on her side. Then the battle began. Life raft was deployed and everybody made it in, then it flipped over with the sea a short time later. A couple of them ended outside of the raft and had trouble getting in past the ladder as it was covering the entrance. He attributed wool underwear (from foot to neck) to their survival. A coastal fuel tanker seen the raft, thinking that it was a buoy, then came upon them. Best set of lights they had ever seen! They were lifted onboard the tanker, given dry clothes, warmed up, and a large glass of the best onboard."
