Anecdotes
In 1968 this vessel was towed to Seattle WA USA by the tug Knight. This vessel had been sold with two other Canadian vessels to Capt. W.B. McCartney and Capt. D.A. Bervin for use in connection with offshore oil exploration by Shell Oil Co. George Duddy believes that "By deduction this vesselmust be one of three vessels acquired by Foss Launch and Tug Co., Seattle WA USA in 1948. None were registered in the US Register of Shipping. They were: APC-7, APC-8 and APC-9." R.G. McCandless reports that "With Shell, MJ Scanlon was the “shooting boat” releasing charges of ammonium nitrate to provide energy for seismic recording by the accompanying instrument boat. Miss Juanita."
