Anecdotes
As the Alaska this vessel was owned by USA interests. In 1914 this vessel was a Canadian Government Ship purchased for the Canadian Arctic Expedition for Vilhjalmur Stefansson. this vessel was employed in an unsuccessful attempt to drift over the North Pole. Instead the polar drift carried them to Siberia. On August 22, 1929 this fishpacker, owned by the Atlantic-Pacific Navigation Co. Ltd., Vancouver BC, was completely destroyed by fire off the west coast of Vancouver Island at Sea Bird Rocks BC carrying a cargo of fish. Her crew was Captain Joe Keegan, Harry Slattery (Mate) and H. Lind (Engineer) was rescued. On May 30, 1925 this vessel was seized for receiving alcohol from the Lirio de Agua at Nootka Sound which had previously run alcohol into the USA.
