Named Features
Significance of Name Name derived from a Comox First Nations word meaning "island in the mouth" and after a geographical feature, Quatiaski Cove, on the west side of Quadra Island.
 
Anecdotes
On May 17, 1965 this seiner owned by Slavko Tobako, Vancouver BC burned and sank one mile east of Point Upwood BC in Georgia Strait and was a total loss. The fire started in the engine room. Her crew of four were rescued after taking the skiff to escape the flames. They were picked up by the Ruby Allen. This vessel had been fishing off the southern end of Texada Island.
