Anecdotes
This vessel formed part of the pre-war Fishermen’s Reserve Fleet. This vessel participated in the 30 January – 25 February 1939 Fishermen’s Reserve Training Session. this vessel was mobilized as a Fishermen’s Reserve vessel from 08 Nov 1939 to 18 Nov 1939. Peter McGuire (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 20/04/2017) states that "I photographed her afloat in 2006 and the next time I saw her (2008) this vessel was laying on her side in Ladysmith Harbour with holes in her hull." Roy Parkinson stated (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 20/08/2021) that "The W.R. Lord required some caulking which was weeping near the starboard bow. this vessel was sold to a fellow from Nanaimo who took her to Silva bay and had the work done. this vessel was kept at the ship yard dock for about a year until moorage was in arrears and the then tenant of the ship yard took her across Silva bay and anchored her off of the RVYC dock where this vessel sank the following winter."
