On October 23, 1968 this vessel foundered, capsized and sank in a storm in Malaspina Strait four miles south of Powell River BC. Captain Frank Symes had just radioed for another tug to help with the twochip scow tow when this vessel sank rapidly. The the rescuing tug Gryphon arrived soon afterwards and found the four man crew were in the water clinging to the lifeboat and only one was wearing a life jacket. |
