Anecdotes
In 1930 this vessel was operating as a maritime rum runner. this vessel was fitted out with a courtroom when owned by the Provincial Police to dispense summary justice. In 1942 this vessel was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy Fisherman's Reserve as H.M.C.S. Ripple. In 1943 this vessel was tender to H.M.C.S. Chatham. In 1944 this vessel was tender to H.M.C.S. Givenchy. In August 2000 this vessel was aground in Skidegate Channel. Brian Lande reports (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 28/10/2014) that: "In 1969 the Texada hit the rocks going into Winter Harbour the cook was at the wheel and never turned and he hit the rocks I don't remember the name of the rock. There was extensive damage the hull the keel had to be totally replaced and about half the planks below the water line. The Texada sat on the ways at Celtics Shipyards for at least nine months this vessel was suspended with hundreds of wooden wedges in a effort to straighten her out. I t must have been a amazing feat to tow her to Vancouver I was on the Chief Seagay that season packing out of Bull Harbour and watched her go by. The damage was so extensive I often wonder why this vessel was repaired."
