Anecdotes |
---|
On October 5, 1961 this tug, owned by Pacific Pile Driving Co. Ltd., Victoria BC, foundered near Steveston BC. This vessel had been proceeding upriver from Tacoma WA with a wrapped bundle of pilings enroute to a timber treatment plant. The tide was ebbing and the bundle swung into a buoy and snagged. The tow hauled up short and the tug sank suddenly by the stern. The two crewmen, Captain Stephen Franks and John Davies, scrambled over the bow. They were rescued by the Margaret McKenzie which had been following them up the river. The Pacific Dolphin was raised and put back into operation. |
