Robert Critchley (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 16/12/2021) stated "We picked up skipper Glen Wheeler and deckhand Dale Hadley, who managed to jump on the barge they were towing, while the Jarl was ablaze drifting on the towline. This was around Lady Island , Knight Inlet, sometime well after dark. We were on John Dolmage's Service 9. After a few failed attempts to tow the barge over the burning hulk, we towed the barge and smouldering tug to Hadley Bay, getting there by daybreak, as the wood hull burnt out all that was left was the steel shell. This vessel was beached there for quite a few years .This happened about 1983." |
