On October 10, 1939 this vessel was destroyed by fire and sank at French Creek near Parksville BC. This vessel was enroute to Nanaimo fishing under charter to the Canadian Fishing Co. The crew had just fished dinner and were on deck at the time of the incident. The engineer had just oiled the engie when it backfired and a fire broke out. When fighting the fire became fruitless they cut the net clear and the crew of five got in the boat and were just clear of the vessel when it exploded. This vessel sank after bring about 3 hours. The Carlisle S. later picked up the nets. |
