Anecdotes
On October 27, 1914 the H. Bell-Irving & Co. Ltd. loaned her for free to the RCN for the Northern Defence Scheme. In 1914-1915 this vessel was loaned to the Royal Canadian Navy as an auxiliary vessel. In 1914 this vessel was returned to her owner. Later this vesselformed part of the pre-war Fishermen’s Naval Reserve Fleet. This vessel participated in the 30 January 1939 – 25 February 1939 Fishermen’s Reserve Section Training Session. This vessel was, however, not mobilized for active duty during the Second World War. Michael Wright (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 14/04/2020) stated "Poor old 'Viner' sank...many times in Annaciss Channel...back around 2012. Was actively for sale on Craigslist at the time too. Broken up at Shelter Island … I believe."
