Anecdotes |
---|
Ed Lien (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 30/11/2019) stated "We came upon the Pacific Traveller capsized in Milbanke Sound the morning after that storm in 1985. [The skipper Leonard Egolf was lost.] Our divers searched her, nothing found. The deckhand was recovered nearby by a CG Cutter. He survived and lived to tell the story. The Pacific Traveller was towed to Shearwater. That was a terrible night with many boats and lives lost due to a storm that was not forecast. We also found the wreckage of a Ucluelet boat [Galleon] that was essentially just a bunch of sticks." Tad Roberts (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 29/11/2019) stated "Pacific Traveller, 42' x 12' troller built by Harold Remmem at Annieville in 1966. This vessel was owned by Norman "Doug" Henderson for the past 31 years, he passed away recently and the boat desperately needs a new caretaker. Currently in rough condition, she'll be broken up if a responsible owner is not found. Gardner 6LX [engine] not running." Magali Cote (email to Nauticapedia 10/03/2021) states "I took over in january 2020 and most frames changed or sistered, replanked where needed and cabin upgraded to modern technologies and fresh look. This vessel will stay out of the water for another year to undergo more major repairs to bullwarks, rigging, full recork etc." |
