Anecdotes
In 1941 this vessel was seized from her Japanese owners by the Canadian Government. In 1942 her ownership transferred to His Majesty the King. In October 1963 this vessel was stranded at Union Bay BC and later salvaged. On January 13, 2014, the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) informed the Administrator that the 45-foot ex-fishing vessel Porcher G had sunk and was discharging oil at Campbell River, British Columbia. CCG Environmental Response personnel took over the appropriate response, because the identified owner indicated that he did not have the financial means to deal with the situation. CCG advises that it intends to file a claim with the Fund.
