Anecdotes
This vessel came to British Columbia via the Strait of Magellan under Captain Walbran having left Greenock 15/10/1891 and arrived at Esquimalt 05/01/1892. In 1892 this vessel struck the Quadra Rocks in the Houston Stewart Channel Queen Charlotte Islands while on a cruise to the Bering Sea in support of the sealing industry under relief skipper James Gaudin. In 1897 this vessel rescued two survivors of the Cleveland near Clayoquot Sound. In 1906 this vessel rescued the survivors of the bark Colima wrecked at Cape Beale BC. In 1907 this vessel was fitted with wireless equipment. On February 26, 1917 this vessel was in a collision with the Charmer on a foggy day at the entrance to Nanaimo Harbour,The Quadra was towed to shallow water where this vessel sank with only a portion of her superstructure and rigging left visible at high tide. The wreck was sold to the Britannia Mine Co. who salvaged her for use in the Howe Sound - Tacoma ore trade. On September 24, 1924 this vessel sailed from Vancouver with 12,000 cases of liquor and was seized by the USCGC Shawnee. (Miles, Fraser (1992)). In 1924 this vessel was broken up following her arrest by the US Coast Guard cutter Shawnee.
