Anecdotes |
---|
On January 31, 1966 this seiner sank at Cape Mudge BC, when this vessel foundered off the mouth of the Oyster River south of Campbell River during a severe windstorm. It was thought that a severe gust combined with strong currents caused her to go over. Another theory was that this vessel was riding high as this vessel was carrying no cargo and was top heavy. Seven members of the crew were drowned in the incident: Captain William Mielty; Reino Aro; Anthony Kiiskila; Herbert Johnson; William Mackie; Norman MacLeod and Engineer Roy Eilertson. The capsized boat was towed to land where it was righted with steel cables. This vessel was towed to a repair yard on Quadra Island where this vessel was put back into service. |
