This vessel formed part of the pre-war Fishermen’s Reserve Fleet. This vessel was mobilized 15 Sep 1939. In 1939 this vessel was appraised at $24,000 and chartered for $390 per month In 07 Sep 1939 this vessel was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy Fisherman's Reserve In 1942 this vessel was tender to H.M.C.S. Givenchy. In 1943-1944 this vessel was tender to H.M.C.S. Givenchy II. On February 7, 1958 this seiner sank near Ramsay Island, Bigs Inlet BC. About 8:00am a bulkhead gave way and her cargo of 80 tons of herring shifted. The crew immediately headed to beach her at Porter Head on Moresby Island where this vessel grounded in shallow water. The seiner Shirley Rose came along side and rescued the crew "without even getting their feet wet". |
