This vessel formed part of the pre-war Fishermen’s Reserve Fleet. This vessel participated in the 30 January – 25 February 1939 Fishermen’s Reserve Training Session. This vessel was mobilized 15 Sep 1939. In 17 Sep 1939 this vessel was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy Fisherman's Reserve as HMCS CAPELLA I. In 1942 this vessel was a tender to HMCS Givenchy. In 1943-44 this vessel was a tender to HMCS Chatham. Alan G. Moberg (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 27/06/2016) states "This boat was one of a small group of Norwegian trollers in the 1950s. Others were the Atomic I, Northcap, the Runo, Zenith II, Deep Sea. My Dad was Swede but had a lot of respect for these [Norwegian] guys. " |
