In 1944-1945 this vessel was assigned to patrol duties at Yorke Island BC. On 19/03/1979 this vesselbegan taking on water off Pine Island and her two man crew left in the skiff. The cruise ship Glacier Queen II and the C.G.S. James Sinclair rescued them. Tad Roberts (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 30/09/2016) states that "I was legal owner from 1973 to 1975, but this vesselactually belonged to my father, Lee Roberts. We got her from Gary Kleaman as a stripped hulk. Cleaned her up, installed a 6 cylinder Cummins, some steering and a towpost, and went beachcombing." Richard Sunderland reports (Email to Nauticapedia 25/09/2016) that "As a patrol boat this vessel was 44 ft. however , when this vessel was converted to a tug, the stern was changed to add 4 ft. So this vessel was 48 ft. overall." |
