This vessel was built for service at EXPO '67. After duty at EXPO this vessel was transferred to Fort Chipewyan (Lake Athabasca) and then in August of 1969 this vessel was transferred to Nanaimo, BC. Sister Ship: Reliance (3rd). Alan Layard stated "In a previous life, I was a ticketed marine mechanic. I used to maintain this boat for a few years in the 1980s. It was based in Ganges, Salt Spring Island for most of that decade. As well, this vessel had twin 165 Mercruiser sterndrives, not outboards. (250 ci GM in-line 6)" |
