This vessel used to operate from HMCS Quadra for Sea Cadet training purposes. After being sold around 2004 this vesselworked as a live fish carrier in Baynes Sound BC.Christian Krajewski (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 17/02/2021) stated " On July 5, 1976, at 1 p.m., a two-seater interceptor CF-101 VOODOO crashed at sea a few seconds after takeoff, 6 nautical miles off Cape Lazo. The next day, YSF 217 was requisition with her crew and equipped with a SIDE SCAN sonar, a deepwater camera, a LORAN receiver and the addition of 5 Regular forces personnel from MARLANT. After 6 days, YSF located the Voodoo that had crash, killing the pilot Capt Les Cox and the navigator Capt Roy Smith. The Pandora II, arrived on the scene, on July 11, with the Pisces V deepwater submersible in her hangar." |
