This vessel was a double-ender design. In 2001 this vessel was designated as a Vintage Vessel by the Maritime Museum of British Columbia. In 2016 this vessel was berthed at the Powell River Harbour Marina. Captain Tony Rose (in an email to Nauticapedia 05/12/2022) stated "It was me who suggested to Tor Miller that he install a fresh water cooling on the Easthope engine in Torhavn. He told me that everyone he knew said that it wouldn't work. I spent time on the vessel with him as a schoolboy. After I was at sea for a few years becoming a Marine Engineer, I had learned a lot about engine cooling systems. When he and his brother were later visiting one of the Easthope brothers in Steveston, BC, Tor's brother asked why the engines couldn't be freshwater cooled. The answer was that they could as long as a header tank was added. Tor shortly after made the conversion to fresh water cooling. By the way…the original engine in Torhavn was a Vivian Gas engine. There was NEVER a 10-14 Easthope engine in the vessel. There were two 15-18 Easthopes. The first one rotted away. I assume the second one is still in Torhaven." |
