Jane Sherrott stated "My Dad was John Newton from Vancouver and he had the boat built by Canoe Cove in 1993 as your website mentions. He worked on a lighthouse supply ship as a teenager and remembered perspiration and coal dust ran down his and the other workers' faces as they waded ashore into Pachena Point lighthouse with sacks of coal on their head. He also loved boating on the west coast of Vancouver Island so wanted a Pachena-oriented name. He was given a story about Princess Pachena so named the boat this. He passed away in 2009." |
