Anecdotes
This vessel was a Hi Ho-class sloop. Rob Bennie states (25/01/2017) That "I sailed on her for many years, with and without my father in the Howe Sound area and as far as Northern Desolation sound. This vessel was a fast little sloop and won many races in her day. Eventually this vessel needed too much work for my father (who was getting on in years) to keep up with so we hauled her up into the front yard (we lived on the beach in Hopkins Landing) where this vesselstayed for many years before he gave her away to one of his former students who was a wood worker and cabinet maker. The student Dana Johnston turned her restoration into a project and has completely rebuilt her, replacing all the ribs, etc and finishing her hull with a coat of fiberglass. This vessel is a work of art. " Marc Cartier (Email to Nauticapedia 07/09/2022) stated "New owner Dana Johnson has re-registered her as SV Timshel and officially re launched her last Friday September 2nd after a complete rebuilt which took 29 years. This vessel was featured in an article in pacific yacht magazine a few years ago before her re launch." Note - In 2024 the Canada Register of Shipping shows this vessel as a new build in 2022 - which conflicts with the anecdotal information.
