Anecdotes
This vessel spent her whole career dredging in Victoria Harbour and at the outer wharves. On November 13, 1915 this dredge (a converted dredge tender), owned by The Minister of Public Works, Ottawa ON, sank at her mooring just east of the Victoria Chemical Works. This vessel came to rest on her port side in 20 feet of water with only the top of her spuds, funnel and house showing at low tide. A week later this vessel was beached and pumped out. It was found that the failure of one of her spuds to slide properly on the falling tide, jamming in her socket, caused her to roll over and sink. This vessel was salvaged and put back into service.
