Anecdotes
The same day that the Estevan Light was shelled by a Japanese submarine the Fort Camosun was torpedoed by the I-25 110 km south-southwest of of Cape Flattery. The corvettes H.M.C.S. Quesnel, HMCS Edmundston, and HMCS Vancouver rushed to the her aid. They searched in vain for the submarine. They rescued the crew in lifeboats and towed the vessel, loaded with lumber, to Esquimalt. This vessel was repaired only to be torpedoed again in the Indian Ocean off the African coast. This vessel was repaired and sailed again. In 1960 this vessel was broken up in the USA.
